The Elvis Medley album was released in October 1982 and the single was released on October 22 1982.

The "Short" version of The Elvis Medley was only sent out to radio stations for airplay.

The difference between the "Long" and "Short" versions is that the following lines were cut out on the "Short" version:
"Higher, higher, it's burning through to my soul,
Girl, girl, girl, girl, you're gonna set me on fire, mmmmm".
