This is one of the rare occasions where The Jordanaires
appear in the left channel on the final 2-channel
mix. The position of the Jordanaires was preseved
by BMG on the Double Features and FTD's Spinout extended soundtrack mix of the masters, but not on any
of the outtakes.
The Famous Groove 2-CD The Complete Spinout
Session (FG 2331) is arguably the best source
for the session with completely dry vocals, hiss,
possible mid-frequency drop, generation loss and
possibly lacking one of the original 3 channels. Celluloid Rock Volume 2 (Cool Romeo)
has a binaural mix with raised mid-range, high-end
loss and digital echo on the other hand. Apart
from that, it may be of a better analog generation
than the Famous Groove release.
The song 'All's Well That Ends Well' was selected for, but not used in the movie Spinout. It was eventually recorded with re-written lyrics as 'Smorgasbord'.
Elvis can be heard singing a line from 'I'll
Take You Home Again Kathleen' before Take
1, a line from 'When The Swallows Come Back
To Capistrano' after Take 2, and a line from
'I Got A Woman' after take 5 of' Smorgasbord'.
The record version of 'Smorgasbord' is faded
at the end to take out Elvis' mistake with the
lyrics ("I'll take the dish I please, and
and take the please I dish"), although the
movie version contains these unedited lyrics.
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, Legacy releases, the 30 disc Complete Elvis Presley Masters collection and the Franklin Mint package.
