The undubbed masters on 'Our Memories Of Elvis'
weren't really the pure undubbed masters. They
were the fully overdubbed or regular masters but
with certain instruments and backing vocal channels
removed or stripped down.
Elvis can be heard singing a couple of lines
of Softly As I Leave You before Take 2
of Loving Arms on 'Essential Elvis Volume
5' but it is edited in from before take 2 of Promised
Land (December 15 1973).
Also edited in after take 1 of If That Isn't
Love on the Venus release "Stax 73 -
Unedited Masters" is Elvis singing part of
The Christmas Song from the rehearsal of
Thinking About You (December
12 1973).
An edited (1:48) version of She Wears My Ring,
with omitted verse ("This tiny ring is a
token of tender emotion.
An endless pool of love that's as deep as the
ocean. She swears to wear it with eternal devotion.
That's why I sing, because she wears my ring.
She swears to wear it with eternal devotion, That's
why I sing, because she wears my ring"),
was released in 1987 on the BMG Ariola release
'The Definitive Love Album'.
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, 'Legacy' releases, the 30 disc 'Complete Elvis Presley Masters' collection and the Franklin Mint package.
Thanks to Adrian V Stokes regarding the edited
versions of songs on the BMG Ariola set of 'Definitive'
albums.
