All tracks on "Celluloid Rock" have
channels reversed to the same tracks on the "Memory"
release "Elvis Sings Girls! Girls! Girls!",
with Elvis' vocals in either the left or right
channel. A better stereo image with Elvis' vocal
centred, is presented on the same tracks on FTD's
'Girls! Girls! Girls!' soundtrack, 'Double Features
- Kid Galahad / Girls! Girls! Girls!', 'Elvis
Chante Leiber & Stoller', and "There's
Always Me Volume 2".
Additional instruments were overdubbed to the
songs by Gilda Maiken and acetates were cut for
the use of playback in the movie. These 'Movie
Version' acetates were issued with new production
numbers (WTD-1, XTD-1 etc...) instead of listing
the actual master take numbers (WOV-02, XOV-06
etc...).
Thanks to Rogier van Luyken for sharing his private
acetate collection.
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, 'Legacy' releases, the 30 disc 'Complete Elvis Presley Masters' collection and the Franklin Mint package.
