The basic recording of Suppose features Elvis' voice and piano by Charlie Hodge. Because the bootleg "Celluloid Rock Volume 2" used the original 3 (or 4 ?) Track tape, it was possible for them to give the impression of four different overdubs of this song, when in reality, it was all just the same track! 'Sessions III' also lists an earlier overdub session on January 18 too, although it is not listed by Ernst Jørgensen in 'A Life In Music'. Perhaps this session was initially intended just to overdub backing vocals to the original home recording, but then the idea was abandoned in favour of recording a new backing track and adding backing vocals. |
